5-day itinerary for Abu Dhabi

How this 5-day Abu Dhabi plan works

Culture, beach and desert

Each day below is grouped geographically so you spend your time in Abu Dhabi rather than in transit. Distances are longer than Dubai — most visitors combine metered taxis, rideshare (Careem/Uber) and hotel shuttles. The Corniche is walkable; Saadiyat, Yas and the Grand Mosque need a car. E11 links Abu Dhabi and Dubai in about 90 minutes.

Day by day

  • Day 1

Day 1 — Grand Mosque and Heritage Village on the breakwater.

  • Day 2

Day 2 — Louvre Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat galleries, Saadiyat Beach.

  • Day 3

Day 3 — Yas Island theme parks and Ferrari World sundown.

  • Day 4

Day 4 — Corniche cycle, Emirates Palace afternoon tea, Qasr Al Watan.

  • Day 5

Day 5 — Liwa or Al Ain day trip (dunes, camel farm, Al Jahili Fort).

Where to base yourself

  • Corniche & Downtown

Waterfront promenade, city-view towers and Emirates Palace.

  • Saadiyat Island

Museum district — Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim (in progress), Saadiyat Beach resorts.

  • Yas Island

Ferrari World, Warner Bros., Yas Waterworld and race-week hotels.

  • Al Maryah / Al Reem

Business and dining islands with skyline dining and boutique stays.

Best time to run this itinerary

November–March delivers 20–28°C days ideal for the Corniche, Yas Island and desert trips. April and October are warm but manageable; June–September regularly tops 40°C and is best paired with pool days and indoor sights.

Before you go

  • Grand Mosque visitor entry closes on Friday morning for prayer — visit afternoons or another day.

  • Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Watan sell timed tickets — book online in cooler months.

  • Distances are longer than Dubai — allow a full day for Saadiyat + Yas separately.
