Nasi campur & nasi goreng

What to drink
Tap water is not safe — drink bottled. Bintang is the local lager; arak (rice spirit) is potent — buy branded only. Fresh coconut, jamu tonics and Balinese coffee (kopi Bali) are daily staples.
Dining etiquette and practicalities
Wear a sarong at temple entries — provided at Besakih and Uluwatu.
Never touch anyone's head or point feet at offerings; step around canang sari on the pavement.
Nyepi Day (March) requires total silence — no leaving the villa, no lights outside.
