Best Time to Visit AlUla
The best time to visit AlUla: season-by-season weather, crowds and prices, and how to time your dates for cheaper hotels and flights.
Updated 2026-07-25
When to visit AlUla
October–April is the main tourist season with 15–28°C days and cool desert nights — ideal for Hegra, Elephant Rock and hot-air balloons. Winter (Dec–Feb) is coolest and hosts AlUla Moments festivals. May–September is very hot (40°C+) with limited outdoor programming.
What each season changes
AlUla is Saudi Arabia's answer to a low-density luxury desert — Hegra's Nabataean tombs, Elephant Rock sundowners, Maraya mirrored concerts and design hotels like Banyan Tree and Our Habitas Ashar make it the most contemplative Middle East destination.
Season and price
Hotel rates in AlUla follow demand more closely than weather. Shifting your dates by a week either side of a peak period often moves the nightly rate more than switching hotel category — check live prices for both before committing.
Seasonal planning tips
Book Hegra Rawi tours and Maraya shows on Experience AlUla weeks in advance.
AlUla is a dry destination — no alcohol at any resort or restaurant.
Bring layers — desert nights drop to 5–10°C in winter even when days are warm.
