Best time to run this itinerary

October–April warm dry ideal (26–32°C, calm sea, best for families + snorkel). June–September cooler + windy (23–27°C) — kitesurf peak. April–May long rains — many lodges close; November short rains. Water 26–29°C year-round.

Before you go

• Fly Wilson ↔ Ukunda (Safarilink/AirKenya) 45 min avoids Mombasa ferry queue.

• Modest cover-up walking through Ukunda town + villages (Muslim area); bikinis fine on hotel beach.

• Malaria zone — take prophylaxis + evening DEET; reef shoes for low-tide walks.
