• King Abdulaziz International (Jeddah) (JED) — 20 km from the centre

  Metered taxi to Corniche in ~30 min (SAR 80–120); Careem cheaper; Haramain High-Speed Rail runs to Makkah and Madinah.

Entry and arrival formalities

Hajj Terminal (seasonal) handles pilgrimage arrivals; regular Terminal 1 serves all other traffic.

Same Saudi e-visa as Riyadh (one-year multi-entry, 90-day stays). Umrah performers may enter on the e-visa or a dedicated Umrah visa. Non-Muslims cannot enter Makkah or central Madinah.

Getting into the city

Careem, Uber and metered taxis cover the city cheaply; the Corniche and Al-Balad are walkable but distances between districts are long. A car is useful for the Corniche, King Abdullah Sports City and Obhur beach resorts. A metro line is under construction.
