Each day below is grouped geographically so you spend your time in Riyadh rather than in transit. The Riyadh Metro (6 lines) opened in 2024 and links KAFD, Olaya, Downtown and Diriyah; taxi and Careem/Uber rideshares are inexpensive and cover the whole city. A car is useful for Edge of the World and heritage day trips.

• Downtown / Al Bathaa

  Masmak Fortress, Souq Al Zal and the old-city grid.

• Diplomatic Quarter (DQ)

  Leafy embassies district with parks and low-rise cafés.

Best time to run this itinerary

November–March is peak with 15–25°C days and cool evenings ideal for Diriyah, desert trips and Riyadh Season events. April and October are warm but pleasant. June–September regularly tops 42°C — pair with pool days and indoor sights.
