Singapore 5-Day Itinerary
A realistic 5-day Singapore itinerary: what to see each day, where to stay, how to move between areas and when to go.
Updated 2026-07-25
How this 5-day Singapore plan works
Five days allows the city core, a full Sentosa day, the zoo, and a quieter day away from the crowds at Pulau Ubin or the Southern Ridges — the two sides of Singapore that a short trip usually skips.
Singapore + family & culture
Where to base yourself for this plan
Chinatown/Tanjong Pagar or Kampong Glam/Bugis work well over five nights, keeping costs down while staying close to the MRT for every day below.
Day 1: Marina Bay and the Civic District
Focus: Marina Bay / City Hall
Morning
Gardens by the Bay conservatories early, then the Supertree Grove.
Afternoon
Merlion waterfront, then the Civic District's colonial buildings and museums.
Evening
Hawker dinner at Lau Pa Sat, Spectra show at the bay.
Getting between them
Walkable; Bayfront and City Hall MRT as backup.
Day 2: Chinatown and Little India
Focus: Chinatown / Little India
Morning
Chinatown temples and shophouses, lunch at Maxwell Food Centre.
Afternoon
Little India's spice shops and Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple.
Evening
Kampong Glam for dinner near Haji Lane.
Getting between them
North East line; Bugis MRT for Kampong Glam.
Day 3: Sentosa
Focus: Sentosa Island
Morning
Universal Studios or the S.E.A. Aquarium.
Afternoon
Beach time at Siloso or Palawan.
Evening
Beach bar sunset, monorail back to VivoCity.
Getting between them
Sentosa Express or cable car.
Day 4: Singapore Zoo and Night Safari
Focus: Mandai
Morning
Singapore Zoo, focusing on the open-concept enclosures before the midday heat.
Afternoon
Lunch nearby and a rest before the evening safari; River Wonders is an option if time allows.
Evening
Night Safari — the tram tour followed by a walking trail.
Getting between them
Taxi or Grab from the centre, 30–40 minutes; a shuttle bus also links Mandai attractions.
Day 5: Pulau Ubin or the Southern Ridges
Focus: Changi Point, or Mount Faber to HarbourFront
Morning
Bumboat from Changi Point Ferry Terminal to Pulau Ubin and hire a bicycle to explore the kampong trails and Chek Jawa wetlands, or start the Southern Ridges walk at HortPark.
Afternoon
Continue on the island's dirt trails and mangrove boardwalks, or finish the Southern Ridges at Henderson Waves and Mount Faber.
Evening
Return to the city for a relaxed final dinner near your hotel.
Getting between them
Bumboat from Changi Point (roughly 10 minutes), or MRT/taxi to HortPark for the Ridges walk.
Adapting this plan
Swap the Mandai day for a Botanic Gardens and Orchard Road afternoon if traveling without children. If the weather turns, move the Pulau Ubin day to earlier in the trip — the island has little shelter from sudden downpours, unlike the largely covered Southern Ridges route.
Best time to run this itinerary
Singapore sits 1° from the equator — hot and humid year-round (25–33°C). February–April is the driest window; June–September is haze season (Indonesian forest fires possible). Northeast monsoon (November–January) brings afternoon downpours but rarely disrupts sightseeing.
Before you go
Any contactless card taps directly on MRT gates — no separate card needed for tourists.
Return your hawker tray — enforced since 2021 with S$300 fines.
Singapore Sling is a tourist ritual at Raffles Hotel Long Bar (S$40) — expect queues.
Singapore FAQs
Is five days too long for Singapore?
No. Five days is enough to add Sentosa, the zoo and a genuinely quiet day at Pulau Ubin or the Southern Ridges, which a shorter trip has to skip entirely.
Should I choose Pulau Ubin or the Southern Ridges?
Pulau Ubin suits travelers who want rustic, off-grid scenery and don't mind a boat crossing; the Southern Ridges suits those who prefer a mostly covered, easily accessible walk with a payoff view at Henderson Waves.
