7-day itinerary for Singapore

How this 7-day Singapore plan works

Singapore + Southeast Asia launchpad

Each day below is grouped geographically so you spend your time in Singapore rather than in transit. The MRT is the world's cleanest urban rail — 6 lines, air-conditioned, 05:30–00:30, S$0.99–2.50 per ride. Any contactless Visa/Mastercard or Apple/Google Pay taps directly on gates. Taxis and Grab are metered and honest. Changi Airport is 20 km from the centre — MRT East-West line reaches downtown in 35 min for S$2.50.

Day by day

  • Day 1

Day 1–4 — Full Singapore highlights.

  • Day 2

Day 5 — Ferry to Bintan (Indonesia) beach day OR Johor Bahru (Malaysia) food day trip.

  • Day 3

Day 6 — Fly AirAsia/Scoot to Kuala Lumpur (55 min) for Petronas Towers + Batu Caves.

  • Day 4

Day 7 — Return to Singapore, farewell chilli-crab dinner at East Coast Seafood Centre.

Where to base yourself

  • Marina Bay

Iconic skyline — Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, ArtScience Museum. Best for first-time luxury.

  • Chinatown / Tanjong Pagar

Heritage shophouses, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Maxwell hawker centre, boutique heritage hotels.

  • Orchard Road

Central shopping strip — every major mall, luxury hotels and cheap hawker underground.

  • Sentosa

Beach resort island — Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, Palawan Beach. Best for families.

Best time to run this itinerary

Singapore sits 1° from the equator — hot and humid year-round (25–33°C). February–April is the driest window; June–September is haze season (Indonesian forest fires possible). Northeast monsoon (November–January) brings afternoon downpours but rarely disrupts sightseeing.

Before you go

  • Any contactless card taps directly on MRT gates — no separate card needed for tourists.

  • Return your hawker tray — enforced since 2021 with S$300 fines.

  • Singapore Sling is a tourist ritual at Raffles Hotel Long Bar (S$40) — expect queues.
