A beach afternoon at JBR or Kite Beach — free public beaches, sun-beds bookable at neighbouring hotels, warm sea all winter.
The Dubai Fountain show after dark from a Dubai Mall terrace — every 30 minutes from 18:00.
A desert safari on your penultimate evening — the memory travellers keep longest.
A day trip to Abu Dhabi — Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Ferrari World for families; 90 minutes each way.
When to visit and what to pack
November-March: 23-28°C, low humidity, warm sea. Peak season, book hotels 2-3 months ahead.
April-May and October: 30-38°C, hot but bearable. Rates drop 20-30%.
June-September: 40°C+, high humidity, outdoor midday activity is not fun. Great time for pool holidays and indoor sights.
Pack modest clothing for Old Dubai and mosques (shoulders and knees covered), a light layer for over-air-conditioned malls, and swimwear you'll actually use.

How many days do you need in Dubai?
Four to five nights is ideal: one for Downtown/Burj Khalifa, one for Old Dubai, one for a desert safari, one for the beach or a resort day. A week only if you want to add Abu Dhabi.
Is Dubai expensive?
Hotels and taxis are mid-range by European standards. Food ranges from cheap (a shawarma is under €4) to eye-watering (a Downtown steakhouse dinner easily €120 pp). Alcohol is expensive and mostly limited to hotels.

Which airport should I fly into?
DXB (Dubai International) is 15-30 minutes from Downtown, the Marina and the Palm. DWC (Al Maktoum) serves mainly cargo and low-cost flights and is 45-60 minutes from most hotels.
Is the desert safari worth it?
Yes — the sunset dune-drive and Bedouin dinner camp is the single most memorable Dubai activity. Book a small-group or private-vehicle option for a smoother ride.
