Destination guide
Hong Kong · Asia
Hong Kong is a vertical city on Victoria Harbour — Kowloon night markets, Central skyscrapers, dim-sum palaces and a MTR that reaches every attraction in under 40 minutes. Base on Hong Kong Island (Central/Admiralty/Wan Chai) for skyline hotels and business, Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui) for waterfront harbour views, or Sheung Wan for design-led boutique stays. The Peak, Star Ferry, dim sum and outlying islands (Lantau, Cheung Chau) are the essential first-visit loop.

Very safe — one of Asia's lowest violent-crime cities. Political protests have quieted since 2020; occasional pickpocketing in TST and Mong Kok markets. Emergency 999 (police/fire/ambulance). Tap water is safe but locals still drink filtered.

Excellent — Hong Kong Disneyland (Lantau), Ocean Park, Ngong Ping 360 cable car, Peak Tram, Star Ferry rides and Sky100 observation deck are family staples. MTR is stroller-friendly and English-signed.
